Odds & Ends of Summer 2011

Memorial Day

Our friends invited us and a few other families to their beach house in San Juan Capistrano for Memorial Day.  It was a gorgeous day with perfect weather and fun friends.  We played down on the beach most of the afternoon and Don & Charlie took the ocean kayaks out.  Later we headed up to the patio to relax and have dinner.  The little boys wanted to take a turn in the kayaks too.  As the sun was starting to set, the boys headed out to the steps to watch the tide come in.  It was the perfect way to spend our holiday.

Janelle's Visit

About a week after Luke was born, my mother-in-law Janelle came to stay with us for 10 days.  Her visit was the greatest blessing!  Isaac had a six week break from school and it was so wonderful to have Janelle here to help entertain Isaac & Luke, do things around the house, and help me to actually get out of the house.  Especially since Charlie had to go to NYC on business during this time.  I don't know what I would have done without her!  We had a lot of fun too.  We had dinner at the Lagoon one night - and Isaac decided he wanted to go swimming, in his clothes!  I think I still owe Janelle for chasing after him.  She also took him to the pool everyday while she was here and helped teach him how to swim.

Fourth of July

The Woodbridge community hosts all kinds of fun activities on the 4th of July.  Charlie got up early to run the 10k (I skipped it this year... you know, since I had a baby less than a month before).  Isaac got to ride in the Woodbridge Bike Parade.  Then Charlie & Isaac had a water balloon fight in the backyard, went to the pool, and that night they went down to the lake to watch the fireworks.

Baby Shower for Luke

A few friends from my ward hosted a baby shower for the three babies that were born recently.  I really didn't need a shower since we already had everything we needed for a little boy, but it was still very nice of everyone and it was fun to get together and talk and celebrate the babies.  Amber was so nice to host at her home, and the shower was for me & Luke, Katie & Henry, and Rachel & Sydney.

Birthdays

Charlie turned 34 and we celebrated with a homemade German chocolate cake and dinner at La Sirena Grill.  Isaac turned 4.  His favorite gifts this year were the battleship & the spy plane from the movie Cars  2.  His teachers made him a birthday crown at school.  That night we went to Boomer's to ride go carts, had dinner at Super Mex, and then came home to have a lemon birthday cake.
